polarbear911 Posted November 21 Posted November 21 This might be a tricky one. As Soulframe grows, players will obviously expect to see better gear, more options for their arsenal, and so on. The real question is: how do you differentiate your companions in Soulframe from those in Warframe (if there are any) without it feeling cheesy? Verminia has a poppet, so it seems that small animals play a significant role in this universe. But if I were to take a shot at it, here are some concepts to consider: Story/Lore: Players will need to complete small side quests to unlock these companions (this ties into point 5). Equipability: You could definitely choose which companion to bring along, but the animals/creatures would need to be small enough to fit in a pouch—nothing too big. Potential candidates could include: Rodent Owl Squirrel V2.0 Sparrow Rabbit/Hare Essentially, animals at the bottom of the food chain. Aiding in Combat: Similar to how Loki in Warframe can place a decoy, these companions could assist in various ways. For example: i) Poppet (Rodent): Use it as a distraction for a backstab, instead of relying on your fey ability. ii) Owl: The owl could ensure a 100% knockdown on enemies, setting them up for a 100% ground finisher. iii) Squirrel: The squirrel could give a loot bonus after an enemy dies, by searching the corpse. iv) V2.0 Sparrow: The sparrow could disrupt bow/arrow timers or melee fluency on enemies, making them easier to defeat. v) Rabbit/Hare: The rabbit could dig holes in the ground as a prep move, so when enemies fall into them, you can easily finish them off. Upgrading: I'm not sure how you'd upgrade small animals, unless you feed them special food with magical properties, which would make them more effective in combat. (This could be part of Oro's Well content, perhaps?) Additional Content: This opens the door for another ancient soul to sit around the campfire in the Nightfold next to Fenn Jotar, so players can easily access them for upgrades. Thanks for reading... 1
Keysharpe Posted November 21 Posted November 21 (edited) Maybe in the future we can find collar fragments. When we find enough, we can assemble a collar and call that specific creature to aid us. It probably wouldn't be a literal collar, as I don't think the Envoys have pets, rather they befriend nature. So perhaps like assembling a device similar to a duck call? I would love to see a system implemented that is similar to the Kubrows and Kavats, or even the Sentinels. I can definitely picture a small animal running alongside me in combat. If that becomes a reality, I won't be satisfied unless we're allowed to pet them. Edited November 21 by Keysharpe Format Adjustments 1
