ABlindGuyPlays Posted November 14 Posted November 14 I ask because I'm on a potato computer on linux, and my initial cutscene was before i had everything set up so it was a slideshow. As of right now i've heard not just the Ode, but Garren talk to me like I'm a turncoat from the invaders/Ode but either defected or was drafted by the forces of this world. Also 'Remember, whatever happens, we're family.' I have questions.
Keysharpe Posted November 14 Posted November 14 I'm a bit blurry on the details, but I believe you're on the right track. I think it was said that the people of Midrath are under some type of mind erasing spell, perhaps caused by this character all the enemies praise, whom they call Synod. It has been stated that he wants to erase the history of everything. I suppose us Envoys broke free of this spell or otherwise aren't from around here, hence why we are referred to as traitors. If I'm incorrect regarding any of these statements, please correct me. I'd like to get the record straight otherwise I might end up like the people of Midrath; unknowing of their own history. Also, I look forward to learning more about the lore of the game. So, if you come across any informative tidbits during your playthrough, please do share them. 1
Raven_Bloodbane Posted November 15 Posted November 15 Not much more available to us yet, I'm afraid. Concrete answers are far in the future.
ImBad Posted November 15 Posted November 15 The intro obviously sets you up for a lot of questions. You're introduced to a voice whispering that phrase, said person then promptly murdalizes you. We got lots of interpretation here. a) You only know this because you were woken from the hypnotism, you remember nothing else because you never had a real thought prior. Now you are saved by a Stag. Your goal is noble, to save others and awaken them from the encroaching grease and soul abominations. The sweet adorable creatures, noble spirits and sympathetic humans rally to your cause to aid your endeavor. b) You know nothing because you planned it. For the Fey to open their doors they will measure your heart which is innocent and only knows betrayal. They will take you in and you will gain their trust unwittingly. Later to remember your family and true purpose of heralding the dark new god emerging from the grease. However this requires you to learn and love your allies, waking to the truth and making the decision to destroy them, your Handler knew this and so they sent you off with a rallying whisper of encouragement. Let's talk about the ancestors; I only know the old scribe and the Smith at the moment. These souls gather to help you, perhaps compelled through ancestral bond, but they are just as ignorant as you and can only lend their expertise. The old scribe has a baby on his shoulder, it's cute and angelic and whispers into his ear. This alludes to the angel and the demon on someone's shoulder.. So where is the entity that should be on his other shoulder? The graves surrounding the tower are callous and hint that the books and information was more important than life, justice or even decency. It hints that scribe .ay not be as kindly as he might appear. He is writing a book, you have choices for motes, your choices change the script. Is he discovering history or making it up? The Smith was a wretched Smith, she is bad and lacks confidence. Is she truly disillusioned and wants to discover what she is capable of , striving to achieve the redemption of the expectations placed on her? Or is she deeply ambitious, seeking only to beat the legacy of her forest regardless the cost. A weapon in the hand of a destroyer is just as famous as the one in the savior. After all, iron is the bane of most Fey. Let's look at the world; On entrance to a town or city you see guards patrolling orderly. Castles and forts manned, mines protected and goods are shipped. It's not chaotic, the villagers appear more stunned and afraid of you as they stop.what they are doing to stare. Enemies you fight invoke the power of the gods and Smite themselves, in a zealous implication that their country is worth dying to protect it from YOU. You get visions and quests as you save the tormented stag and revive the garden, all the murals show people kneeling or embracing the stag in murals, yet now humanity has reached the point they don't need the stag. Is it a passing of an era or a transition of power? Then there are the weird sewn bodies and floating colored spirits in the swamp area, or the lamp bearers. Fire is NOT always blue. In standard Fey lore blue flame signifies the supernatural. some campfires burn blue but others are yellow, same for torches. Your spirit channeling views things in blue aura but when you invoke your ancestral fire it's yellow. Same for Bannerets. Yet some gave blue fire or throw blue arcs. Then there is your title. You're an Envoy, everyone knows it. At a glance it is obvious. Envoy asserts you're a representative, yet even after saving the tormented stag it bullies and threatens you, which indicates it doesn't see you as being on their side. Even the bannerets hate you and guards all over hunt you down. Your crest on your arm changes the Pact as simply as putting on new equipment. Slipping from Pact to Pact. Arguably you can assume the thunder Pact was gained from.your service in the Ode, the Stag that saved you likely gave you the Fey Pact, later you hunt down the Rood by killing stags. plenty of inferences make. 1
